Sewing Friends

When this set first came out I really liked it, but I wasn't sure I would use it enough to purchase it. I had some customers show interest in it and I could get it on sale during one of SU's great promotions so I decided to get it. After I made this card I was happy that I did.

I was inspired by a card that I saw in the SU Idea book and Catalog. For this card I used Ballet Blue, So Saffron, and Night of Navy. I also had some Prestwick DSP left over (I know it is retired). This card came together really well and I was glad that I had seperated the words from the image when I mounted my stamps for this set. It made it much easier to get everything just how I wanted it.

Have fun with this layout. I think it looks cute and it can easily be changed to work with many different stamp sets.

Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Knitting Crazy

The winner of my contest is.....Julia!!! Congrats, Julia. I will give you your prize on Saturday at my Make and Take.

If you haven't signed up for my Make and Take yet there is still time. You get to make four cards and two coasters for $10. RSVP today!!!

Well, Hello Stampers! I am back from my trip. Let's just say I had a blast. I stayed up a lot later than I have in years! We had way too much chocolate and lots of laughs! I will share with you some of the projects I got completed eventually or just ask next time you see me. I am very motivated to keep on knitting.

On to the sample for today. Today's sample is all retired materials except for the (ribbon and twine), but the idea is still great. I wanted to give all the ladies a gift when we got there, but I wanted to make it useful. I decided to make them post-it note holders.

I first cut out the thin cardboard that comes in the back of our DSP into the correct size. I scored it and folded the edge so that there was a rectangle. I then covered each side with our beautiful DSP (Designer Series Paper). I borrowed this great stamp set from my mom and I knew it was perfect beause it had the yarn and knitting needles in it.

As you can see I then added a pack of post-it notes inside. They girls were so excited and we all used ours at some point to take notes, write down patterns, etc.

Good luck in finding somethings useful for a gift or just take my idea! Have fun with it and the person will love it!

Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Big Shot Letters

As I was working on this little scrapbook I thought to myself...I wonder if we still sell these? Well, come to find out we don't. We do still sell the larger version of this, but not the smaller. I still wanted to share this with you.

This is the small Chipboard album. I love how you can customize the front, back, side, and the entire inside of this album. It makes it even more unique.

For this book I decided to focus on my nephew Oen. I have so many pictures of him and I wanted to put a few of my favorites in one spot. I decided to put his name on the outside using my letters from the Big Shot. I love these letters. My goal was to find more ways to use them and I have done just that. These letters would work great for any scrapbooking. They are the perfect size for large or small projects. The letters look great on the outside of a journal or notebook. They also work great for tags to put on luggage or your favorite basket. The options are endless with these letters.

I hope to do more scrapbooking here soon and I am going to be offering a class. If you are interested in joing please let me know. It will be held March 21st at my house starting 10 and going until we are done. You will need to purchase a scrapbook and a Simply Scrappin Kit. If you want to order ribbon you may. I will let you use my stamps and punches the day of the class.

Have a wonderful day! Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Going Green

Well Stampers I am off again! I am going on a trip with my mother-in-law, her sister Cheryl, and Cheryl's friend. We will be knitting our days away. We have a lot planned, but it all has to do with knitting. I hope I have some great projects to share with you when I return.

I just wanted to let you know that my blog will be updating, but I will not have full internet access...so if you need me just way a few days and I will get back to you or give me a call.

Today I wanted to share with you how Stampin' Up is going green. I have copied and pasted the next part from my January 2009 Stampin' Success.

Rubber
Rather than dumping our excess rubber in a landfill, we donate it
to Courage Reins, a nonprofit organization that provides horseback
riding therapy for physically or mentally challenged children. They
take our ground rubber and sell it to groups and individuals for use
in playgrounds and horse stables. The money they receive from the
sale of this rubber goes to fund their programs. You can find more
information about Courage Reins at www.couragereins.org.

Wood Blocks
Our wood blocks are not only created from a renewable resource,
we engage in a sustainable practice to get those wood blocks. We
work with a tree farm in which the maple trees are grown specifically
for the purpose of harvesting wood!

Paper
You’re probably already aware that the paper we use for shipping is
100 percent recycled. But did you know that our card stock includes
recycled material? It’s true! Our card stock includes recycled paper
that’s left over from other paper runs, which would otherwise end
up in a landfill. The darker the color of card stock, the more recycled
material is in the card stock. (Who would have thought that Basic
Black was our greenest color?)

Isn't it great knowing that SU is helping the environment. Just another great reason to support SU and what they are doing to help us be creative.

Thanks for stopping by today! Go be green in your world! Britni :)

Sympathy

Sympathy cards are the last cards that we want to make, but there are times when we really need them. Having some simple, yet powerful sympathy cards around will help you when you need one quickly.

My Aunt Bonnie was kind enough to let me borrow this stamp set.

For the outside of this card I kept the design simple and it was inspired by another card I saw on the SU demonstrator website.

The colors I used were Elegant Eggplant, Handsome Hunter, and Kraft. I used my markers to color the stamp and then stamp the image. I used Basic Black for the words so that they would stand out against the image. For the Kraft in the background I used Versamark and the flower image to add a little depth. I did tear both colors in the background and I used my distressing tool on all of the edges.

Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have a quick card to share with you. This is the card that I made for my sweet hubby. He is off to a bowling trip (it has been that way since we have been together, so I'm used to it), but I didn't want to forget to tell him Happy Valentine's Day before he left.

For this card I used his favorite stamp set with the truck (Loads of Love). He loves this truck and especially when it is red and of course I had to add some hearts to the back of the truck and peek in the window...there I am.

I hope you have a wonderful day! Happy Stamping! Britni :)

"4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

1 Corinthians 13:4-13

Valentine Treats

Check these out! These were made and designed by my Mom. I think she did a great job and her friends will love to receive such a thoughtful gift.

During my catalog bash we had a little down time and we started to work on these treat bags. I let her borrow my Big Shot to cut out the Scallop Circles for the toppers on the Cellophane Bags that Stampin' Up sells. All we did was fold the paper in half, punch two holes through the whole thing, and then tie ribbon through the holes. She used Riding Hood Read and Pink Pirouette. She then used coordinating colors for the gift tag. She found a nice heart and a nice saying to put on the tag and that is all she needed. She then added another texture by using twine to tie on the tag.

She also used Bella Rose Designer Series Paper which worked great for Valentine's Day!

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Bright Colors

Maybe these bright colors will helps us think about Spring...it is on the way!

The stamp set I used for this card was Petal Pizazz. It was a new set with the new catalog. I love it! The flowers are all different sizes and fun to layer. The colors for this card are Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, and Tangerine Tango.

On Monday I featured the Scallop Circles for the Big Shot. I wanted to show you a card example using the scallop circles. I first punched out my scallop circle with the Big Shot and then I stamped my large orange flower onto it. I then layered a small flower on top which I punched out with my 1" circle punch. I used dimensionals to make it pop and also a brad from the Circle Designer Brads collection. For the background on the bottom I used the leaf that is also part of that set. I thought that I needed some words and I wanted to use another punch so I got out my Curly Label Punch set. It adds another element and really makes the word pop!

I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I loved making it. This is a Britni original. I didn't get any ideas from anywhere for this card (Justin was so proud!).

Have a wonderful day! Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Scallop Circles

Hello Stampers! Well, I know that all of you have seen the Big Shot and a lot of you even got to use it at my New Catalog Bash! Today I am featuring a Big Shot Die. This die is a great one to look at because it is very versatile. Stampin' Up sells two dies that have scallop circles. This die happens to have two on one.

Great Ideas for this die:
1. Use either of the circles on a card
2. Layer the two circles to make a flower
3. Cut out a picture to scrapbook
4. Stamp an image and then use the die to cut around it
5. Make a small treat bag topper
6. Make a small card using the circle

These are just a few ideas that I can come up with off the top of my head. If you are considering a Big Shot then now is an even better time to be considering. Stampin' Up sells more dies now and even texture plates (more on these at a later date)!!!

Be creative! Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Big Shot Envelope and Flower Brad

Hello Stampers! I hope you had a wonderful week! I also hope you had a chance to stamp or create.

The sample I have today I can not take credit for. I saw a card similar to this and just changed the colors and accessories.

For this card I started with Bella Rose Designer Series Paper which helped me choose the next colors which include Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, and Chocolate Chip. For the small envelope I used my Big Shot. I love the flower brad and the two colors of ribbon. Also, I loved how the creator used the scallop punch to go along with the scallop on the envelope.

I hope you enjoyed my card today. Happy Stamping! Britni :)

Heartfelt Sympathy

Now first things first...click on the picture so that it will become larger and check out the background.

Now, remember my last post I featured the brayer and some different techniques to use with the brayer. For this card we used the brayer for the background. We inked the brayer by rolling it over the stamp pad and then rolling the brayer over the background stamp that we used. This helped to make sure that the entire background stamp was inked evenly. We then took the background stamp and stamped it.

I hope this helps you understand the great uses for the brayer.

Happy stamping! Britni :)

Brayer

Hello Stampers! Today I am going to feature a great tool that Stampin' Up offers. I can not take credit for this great list of of ideas to use this tool for, but enjoy!

1.Stripes: using markers, make stripes on your brayer (this works best if you lie it on its back and turn the roller while holding the marker) all the way around until the beginning and ending stripe meet. Roll brayer across your paper in whatever direction you desire.

2. Confetti/Dots/Raindrops: Randomly make marks on your brayer with your marker (you can use different
colors) all over the entire roller. Then roll away.

3. Reverse/mirror Image: Color your stamp, rubber side up and roll the brayer over the image several times, then roll over your paper (works great with trees, flowers etc).

4. Kissing: Brayer over a background stamp then use your other stamps like the Seasonal Solid and stamp onto the background stamp then stamp onto your card stock - your solid stamp now has a design and you have just multiplied your uses of one set.

5. Ghosting: Stamp an image on your card (say the Snowflake from the "Snowflake" set) several times in clear embossing ink. (DO NOT EMBOSS) Then brayer over your invisible images with regular dye pad and your snowflakes will start to appear.

Happy Stamping! Britni :)

I need your help and advice.

Well, my life is becoming busy and it is hard to find a lot of time to sit and stamp, take pictures, and update my blog daily. I really want to provide these great ideas for all of you, but I also want to make sure it is worth my time to continue posting daily.

What I need to know from you is...
1. How often do you check my blog?
2. Are the ideas helpful and inspiring?
Please leave me message and make sure to include your name so that I can know exactly how many people check my blog.

Send me your ideas and pictures. I also love featuring my fellow stampers and your great ideas. This also helps me fill some of my posts.

I don't want to give this up, but I am just trying to figure out just how often I need to update my blog.

Have a wonderful day and don't forget to leave me a message!

Thanks! Britni :)
